Hey guys! I know I haven't been around for a while (longer than I thought!) But I have had a small blogging break since I've been busy with other things.
But here I am back with a review post! I went to see Avengers Infinity War on Monday night. And I've got quite a controversial post to write about it. Don't worry I'm not going to tell you that I didn't like the film, because I did. But there are some things I have to say about it.
First of all, I had fallen out of the Marvel Universe up until this film. Not going to lie I still haven't watched a few of the latest Marvel movies, however I did make an exception for this highly anticipated film. We all know this film is supposed to be the film that ALL the other Marvel movies have been leading up to. Which is true since we saw a massive superhero team up with the likes of Gaurdians of the Galaxy and Black Panther teaming up with the Avengers against the ultimate villain THANOS!
So my first praise for the film has to go to the portrayal of Thanos. He was magnificent, as you know I'm a big villain fan so I was super looking forward to seeing him in the movie. His character was so bad and had so much badassery about him that he was definitely my favourite character of the whole film. I think he matched the character in the comics pretty good too!
Now In some reviews I've read of the film previously alot of people have been saying crap about the story line, although I didn't particularly find any issues with this. Even though the storyline jumps from place to place and different characters to different characters I still didn't find it hard to follow at all. The only part was the very beginning where I think it would have been helpful to have already watched Thor:Ragnorok but everything was fairly self explanatory, it just came as a shock that's all.
Before I go any further I have to say (stop reading now if you haven't watched the film because this really is a spoiler) I CANNOT BELIEVE LOKI IS GONE!!!
I was so attached to him as a character even when he was being a meanie in the first Thor movie. Now of course I've seen some speculation that Loki is just up to his old tricks and was faking his death like in the 2nd Thor movie, but Thanos' hand around his throat looked pretty real to me.
Next I've got to give a bit of appreciation to the final fight scene. What an intense bit of fighting that was! Thanos' army was badass of course and the fight between Thanos and Dr Strange also had me on the edge of my seat. Marvel did well.
Now the main thing I wanted to say (and again if you haven't seen the movie yet then why are you still reading? You're only ruining it for yourself!) Is regarding the ending. Now I don't think it was a bad ending, even though I've heard some people say they thought it was. But I did find it very very difficult to believe that half the avengers are indeed 'disintegrated into dust' if you're not sure what I'm talking about them I'm referring to the part where Thanos snaps his fingers and wipes out half of the planet after getting all the infinity stones. Meaning the likes of spiderman, black panther and many others are turned into dust. I'm having trouble being upset by this. I mean the spiderman/ironman part was a little heart wrenching but still.
As most of us know in the comics the avengers all come back. So how can I be upset about them all dying when they're probably all going to come back to life? Also I mean why would they wipe out spiderman and Black Panther when they've only just been introduced into the MCU? So when I got to the end of the movie I wasn't that upset by the dissintigration of half the characters. Especially since we've already seen a way they could be brought back when Thanos reverses Visions death and takes the stone out of his mind. So I wouldn't say the ending is disappointing but I would say that it didn't have the impact it should have.
Overall this film is full of great jokes, action and awesome characters. It's a definite must watch and it really is the Marvel movie of the century.
I'm sure you've watched it for yourself other wise you wouldn't have read this far. So what did you think of the film? Let me know in the comments!
